Man pleads guilty to negligent homicide in drive-thru death

A habitual drunk driver charged with manslaughter for running over a 20-year-old woman in the drive-thru lane of the Nanakuli McDonald's Restaurant two years ago pleaded guilty in state court this morning to a reduced charge of first-degree negligent homicide.
Small fires prompt evacuation at one hotel, but not at another

Honolulu firefighters responded to three small fires this morning -- two at large hotels and another fire at the Straub Clinic and Hospital. Hotel guests were evacuated from the Hawaii Prince Hotel after the alarm sounded at about 1:17 a.m. However, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said the department is investigating why there was no general alarm and no evacuation at the Ala Moana Hotel.
Kauai police chief and mayor clash over return to work
