A habitual drunk driver charged with manslaughter for running over a 20-year-old woman in the drive-thru lane of the Nanakuli McDonald's Restaurant two years ago pleaded guilty in state court this morning to a reduced charge of first-degree negligent homicide.

Honolulu firefighters responded to three small fires this morning -- two at large hotels and another fire at the Straub Clinic and Hospital. Hotel guests were evacuated from the Hawaii Prince Hotel after the alarm sounded at about 1:17 a.m. However, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig said the department is investigating why there was no general alarm and no evacuation at the Ala Moana Hotel.
